Ajay-Kajol walk off Rock-N-Roll Family sets
29 April 2008
Is it a real-life drama or fancy exit strategy?
Rock-N-Roll Family is in trouble again. It seems like controversies and disagreements keep plaguing this show. First, it was false identities and now it's disobedient contestants....
Actor, director and judge of Rock-N-Roll Family, Ajay Devgan lost his cool on the show as the families refused to heed or see reason in introducing a Wild Card Round which meant an addition of contestants on the show.
The contestants protested saying that they have left their lives behind to participate on this show for the last three months. Brijesh from the Saxena family voiced his concerns and mentioned that if additions needed to be made the producers should bring eliminated contestants back. Why bring in brand new contestants and put them on the same level without all the hard work?
Ajay Devgan allegedly tried his best to reason with the contestants. Once again, the show contract was recalled but the participants refused to see reason. They were under the impression that a Wild Card entry meant eliminated contestants would be brought back, and not new ones.
Devgan was livid as the arguments refused to cease. He finally grabbed Kajol by the arm and walked off the sets, saying, "If you guys know the best then carry on. I will not tolerate a change of format halfway through the show."
Director Satish Datt is a very concerned man right now. Ajay Devgan has refused to step back in the judges panel until the matter was resolved and the contestants are doing their bit to get their point across by bunking rehearsals.
Says Datt, "Yes, (Ajay) did shout at them but it was only because they had a counter argument to everything and refused to see reason. We're heading in for an internal meeting now and then we will go to Ajay and Kajol's house and have a talk with them too."
When questioned if Rock-N-Roll Family might have to skip an episode, Datt said that he wasn't sure of the situation as of now. He will, of course, definitely get back to us once everyone has been reasoned with.
A representative of Zee TV confirmed the show is in trouble but that the network is absolutely confident that all will be rectified and back to normal. He also held the channel's decision of introducing new contestants in high standing and mentioned that the contestants have no choice but to come back on the show.
"They're free to leave if they want to without any repercussions," said the representative. "But I don't think they will. It was clear in the contract that such a round would be introduced and they're just going to have to accept it," he said.
We spoke to Brijesh from the Saxena family who voiced his opinion by saying, "On all other reality shows, the wild card entry brings back ex-contestants. Why should this be any different? If this mater is not resolved we have all decided to quit."
Is this the end of Rock-N Roll-Family? Will Ajay-Kajol come back on the judging panel? Or hey...is this just a smart way of exiting due to poor TRPs? We'll find out soon enough...
