'I look up to him'

Looking fresh after a well-deserved break in Goa, actor Tanishaa is in a mood to discuss everything under the sun except her personal life.
That makes us wonder if this vacation was meant to nurse a broken heart post her break-up with long-time ‘friend’ Uday Chopra and to get over the death of her father Shomu Mukherjee.
However, there are other things on Tanishaa’s mind as well. She’s looking forward to her role in Sarkar Raj opposite Abhishek Bachchan. “I’m excited about my role in Sarkar Raj. My character in the film is so well defined – it is mature and is more powerful than what was etched in Sarkar.”
And no, she’s not intimidated by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s presence in the movie. “Of course not,” says Tanishaa. “Both of us are doing our own things and there’s nothing to feel threatened about.”
And again she leaves us wondering as to where this confidence stems from given the fact that she doesn’t have much experience. “I may have done a few films, but then I have made a mark and that’s why you are interviewing me. Don’t you think so?”
Ok but why did she not take up more films after Sarkar? “Initially, when I stepped into this industry I didn’t want to take up acting as a career. I was doing it for fun... to pass my time. Maybe I made some bad choices. However, now I’m taking it seriously as a profession. But that doesn’t mean I will take up just any project.”
That’s fine, but doesn’t she know that the film industry works on the principle of out-of-sight out-of-mind? “Not necessarily,” she retorts. “See, if one is good, one will be remembered. Take the example of my sister Kajol. People still want her in their movies. Similarly, I have been getting offers, but I am particular about what I accept,” she explains.
Moving on to family matters, we ask her how much say do they have in her career? “Honestly, I seek my family’s support in every sphere of my life. Kads (Kajol) and Ma are always there for me irrespective of the time or place. But it’s my brother-in-law Ajay Devgan to whom I turn to for advice in professional matters,” she avers.
Why Ajay, we question? “I look up to him and really respect his opinion. He has been in this industry for long and is familiar with its working and its people. He’s a fantastic actor besides a producer and a director.” Apart from Sarkar Raj, Tanishaa is also going to share screen space with mom Tanuja in a Bengali flick. Tanishaa, of course, is upbeat about this project. “Mom is just amazing and I really am looking forward to working with her,” she says excitedly
Ask her what else excites her and this Piscean is more than forthcoming, “I’m a very restless person. I get bored very easily. I love working out and so I keep thinking of new ways of working out. Power yoga, kick-boxing, aerobics, I’ve tried it all.”
