Ajay and Kajol were taken by surprise when Kumar Mangat, producer of the film Haal-e-Dil, asked them not to attend the music launch of his film.
Reason? Mangat felt that the media would focus all their attention on Ajay and Kajol and neglect his daughter Amita and her co-actors Nakuul Mehta and Adhyayan (Shekar Suman's son), who are debuting in this film.
According to sources, Mangat is very sentimental about Haal-e-Dil, as it is his daughter's first film. He personally went to Ajay and Kajol's house to put forth his request.
The earlier plan was that Ajay and Kajol would grace the occasion but Mangat suddenly thought otherwise. The function was scheduled for 8 pm. However, at 6.30 pm, Mangat reached the Devgan residence.
Though Mangat was very hesitant to broach the subject, he first shared his concerns with Ajay and asked for his opinion. Ajay, in turn, agreed that if Kajol and he attended the event, they would hog all the limelight, and Amita and her co-stars will get neglected. Thus, Ajay agreed not to attend the event.
Mangat too confirmed the story and said that he was obliged to them for understanding his viewpoint.
Sources also said that Mangat learnt this lesson from the recent music release of Kamal Hasaan-Mallika Sherawat starrer Dasvathram, where the spotlight got shifted to Jackie Chan and the hero of the film Kamal Hasaan was virtually ignored by the media.
When a big star like Kamal Hasaan can sometimes get overshadowed, Mangat had every reason to believe that his daughter and her co-stars would definitely not get their share of the spotlight.
