More kids for Kajol?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While the superstar loves playing ‘supermom’ to daughter Nysa, she also wishes to open an orphanage for the less fortunate, reports Farhana Farook
In a male-dominated industry, Kajol was dubbed the ‘hero’ such was her might at the box-office. But the superstar happily let down her hair to play supermom after daughter Nysa was born.
Mother supreme
“Having a child is a much bigger deal for a mother. The little being is entirely dependent on you for everything—even for a burp. But it’s worth every effort and time you have put into it,” says Kajol.
The ‘millennium working woman’ claims, “I’m a superb mother. In fact, I’m a born mother. Motherhood is my niche in life,” adding “I’ve has always been at the beck and call of my family—be it my daughter, husband, parents or sister. Your family should have that much faith in you, that when they call you—wherever you are and whatever position you may have achieved—you are there for them.”
She adds, “Even today when I’m unwell, I just put my head on my mother’s lap and feel better. She heals me.”
Nurturing dreams
Given the fervour she attaches to ‘mommydom’, it doesn’t surprise when Kajol says, “I definitely want to open an orphanage.
That is something I will surely do. I don’t have the time for it now—may be after I have had two to three kids more. Man proposes God disposes. I will do it, Inshallah!”

For Kajol, who will be romancing hubby Ajay in his directorial debut U Me aur Hum, it was a comfortable ride.
“Ajay was clear about what he wanted. He was absolutely calm and cool. We went with a bound script. He had edited the film in his head even before we began shooting. As an actor he’s honest in front of the camera. The camera loves him for that,” she gushes.
Just work it
In an industry where pressures run high, what has kept their marriage unswerving? “Both of us wanted it to work. And we work on it everyday in small ways. You need to care for and care about your partner. It’s not only about saying ‘I love you’,” says Kajol.
While she does not dismiss being ‘possessive’ about him she reasons, “We have to give each other some space. We have our own stupid little spats but that’s what makes a relationship.”
U, me aur hum
Coming back to Nysa (the name meaning Greek Goddess, was selected by Ajay) Kajol says that she’s ‘a thinker’ like Ajay while her ‘enthusiasm’ is an offshoot from her star mom.
“I’d like her to possess a sense of humour—the ability to laugh at oneself and not take oneself too seriously. Everything falls into place after that.”
And a word of advice for all those who want to trek the stardom track? “Your family comes first. Don’t go away so far that when you look behind, there’s nobody around.”
